After the recent protests in Algeria, the president have decided not to contest the election for the fifth time. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who have ruled Algeria for two decades, sparked mass protests after he announced his candidacy for the upcoming elections.
The president had suffered stroke in 2013 after which his public appearance had reduced. The 82-year-old ailing president had faced mass protests when landed from Geneva where he had went for ‘medical routine test’.
The General election in Algeria was scheduled on April 18 but the president has postponed the election.
