They ordered him to keep the shop closed for a week. The Chinese president Xi Jingping was scheduled to drive along the OMR road on 12 and Amarnath’s shop was along the route.
In the Perumbakkam locality maintenance is poor and water is scarce. Electricity supply is spotty, and the healthcare services available are less than adequate. Residents of the resettlement area also find it difficult to find livelihood in a whole new neighbourhood.
The Government School in Perumbakkam might stand by apart from the resettlers’ colonies but the infrastructure is lacking much like the buildings towering around.
