Hardik Pandya returned from his suspension yesterday and played a crucial role for India in the third ODI against New Zealand. He was earlier suspended from Koffee with Karan for his sexist and racist remarks on the show.

He is still facing an enquiry for the same, because of which he did not get to bat but bowled and fielded with purpose, taking two crucial wickets and a brilliant catch to send back home skipper Kane Williamson.

Virat Kohli, after having condemned the comments made by Pandya and KL Rahul on the chat show, said that he hoped all-rounder Hardik Pandya will come out a “better cricketer” and scale new heights. “In life, there are only two ways to deal with a situation like that. Either you hit rock bottom or you can learn from the situation and see it as a motivation to make things right,” he added after leading India to a series-sealing seven-wicket win over the Black Caps.

Hardik Pandya, who had stayed away from social media after issuing an apology, tweeted with two words and a few pictures from what was undoubtedly a special match for him.

Earlier, Sunil Gavaskar lauded Pandya for his efforts with the ball.

“(It was a) terrific performance, absolutely terrific performance. He is a young man, he has had things that have happened and he just wants to forget it. The best way to forget it is being out on the field. And this is what he does best,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.

Hardik was suspended and ordered to return home from the tour of Australia along with KL Rahul after the duo made sexist remarks on Koffee with Karan. Soon after the episode aired on Indian television early in January, the Indian cricket community was left shocked. Pandya apologised but BCCI punished him and Rahul. Here are some clips of the episode.
