English Premier League: Resilient Gunners hold the Blues at Bridge

The Gunners emerged with more credit from this Stamford Bridge stalemate, given an unexpectedly resilient and disciplined performance which may have been enough to earn their first win here in six years had Alexandre Lacazette taken their best chance of the game just before half-time.

At the other end, Alvaro Morata did his best to occupy Arsenal’s three-man defense but found himself outmuscled by Shkodran Mustafi as the match wore on before he was sacrificed late on to preserve a point, following David Luiz’s dismissal for a late tackle on Sead Kolasinac.

Both lone strikers were isolated in a game short on technical quality and high in midfield combat, yet they each had sufficient sights of goal to settle the contest in their team’s favor.
