Foot over bridge pillars a menace to the passengers at Guindy railway station

Contravention of railway rule have been noticed in the construction
of the two pillars at Guindy railway station platform

Chennai: Two over bridge pillars near to the platform one of Guindy railway station are engendering
trouble to passengers. These two pillars built are violating the railway rules.
According to the railway safety standards , the railway track and the structures should be
more than 2.36 meters. But in Guindy railway station the two pillars were pinpointed at 2.1
meters. But as far as now there are no mishaps, says Venkatachalam, Guindy Railway
station Superintendent.
He also adds by saying that, they have noticed this issue to the authorities. Now the
government needs to take action.

According to the passengers, they have to be very careful while boarding the train and while
getting down from the train. The inappropriate building of two pillars were not only causing
trouble to the passengers, but also trouble to the railway.
The daily commuters who board and get down the train are aware of these pillars. But what
about others, who don’t travel frequently from here? Says Murugan, a daily commuter from
Guindy railway station.
There are also passengers who are very eager to get down from the train before the train
stops the station. There are people who jump out from the train before it stops. Earlier there
were such cataclysmic incidents that happened in other stations too, says Neelambari , a
passenger woman at Guindy railway station.
