With the release of Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati starrer Bheemla Nayak on February 25, the Telugu film industry will see a major release every other week.

Bheemla Nayak was first supposed to release in January, but was postponed due to the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. After that, it was expected in industry circles that it would only come out in April to avoid clashing with biggies like Radhe Shyam and RRR.

However, the makers took everyone by surprise by choosing to release it in February itself, once the third wave came under control.

After Bheemla Nayak, Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam will release on March 11. The period romantic drama film also stars Pooja Hegde, and will be released in Telugu and Hindi languages.

Since the success of the Baahubali across the country, Prabhas’ movies have been getting tagged as ‘pan-Indian’, including his previous venture, the commercially successful but critically underwhelming Saaho (2019).

Following Radhe Shyam, S.S. Rajamouli’s much-anticipated RRR will finally hit the theatres on March 25. Like Bheemla Nayak, it has two big superstars to double the buzz around it: Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr. It also stars Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn.

RRR’s release has been delayed multiple times due to the pandemic and lockdowns. It was initially slated to release on July 30 in 2020, and most recently, on January 7 this year. However, it was delayed again because of the third wave.

This is a chance for the industry to recover from the losses it incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, with many crowd-pulling stars like Venkatesh and Nani opting for OTT releases instead of going to the theatres.
